"Art for Water" Campaign: Join artist Camilo Arias and NGO Winner Wayuu to provide clean water for indigenous children in La Guajira, Colombia through the creation of original products.
Arias painted “Hungry Girls” in 2018, a beautiful piece that captures the stunning sunsets of La Guajira and the vibrant Wayuu tribe. Yet, it also denounces the tragic reality of famine, drought, and lack of clean water in this area, leading to alarming child mortality and malnutrition. Despite being home to the magnificent flamingos of "Santuario de Fauna y Flora los Flamencos", this region struggles with these devastating issues.
Saving Lives
NGOs such as WinnerWayuu
have made significant strides in improving the quality of life for this tribe, like providing water...
Art With Purpose
Now, Camilo Arias has teamed up with Winner Wayuu to donate 50% of proceeds from the “Art for Water Campaign” to this cause.
Winner Wayuu is a Colombian foundation that, with resources and support, builds a self-sustaining solution to store vital water, called Oasis de Vida (Life’s Oasis), to improve the health and quality of life of the Wayuu indigenous community in La Guajira. The Oasis of Life’s reservoir (also known as the Inverted Hat*) is an artificial underground well that stores drinking water and is built by the community itself.
LIFE'S OASIS RESERVOIR
(Also known as the Inverted Hat*), which is an underground artificial well that stores drinking water and is built by the community.
The reservoir provides water to a complete rancheria, consisting of about 5 families, and its capacity can last from 2 to 3 months depending on its size.
